Beaters broke

My Classic 3 beaters have broken. Yes, the hand mixer is a good few years old, but I've never had that happen before, and didn't expect with a fairly high end brand like Kitchen Aid.

Beaters broke.

I had beaters break on cheaper/poorer quality hand mixers in the past and I was looking for the quality that Kitchen Aid used to have. I only use my hand mixer for whipped cream, mashed potatoes, or pudding. I use it 2-4 times per month. The beaters broke after 2.5 years. Boo. I was really hoping Kitchen Aid could do better than that.

I was using my 5 speed hand mixer today making a cake from scratch. One of the beaters broke in the middle of mixing the batter up. I have written KA about the problem that I encountered, but I don't know that they will respond or that they will send replacement beaters out to me like I asked them to do. I am giving such a low rating because of the broken beater. I would warn others about this problem, especially because i am not the only one that this has happened to. Kitchenaid needs to re-design the beaters if several complaints have been made about this same issue. I am so irritated at this turn of events!

The mixer is powerful, but the beaters that come with it are poorly made. The weld broke on one after five uses. I will have to buy a replacement set but it will likely have the same problem. I wish there was a more durable beater that would fit, so I could use it instead

We purchased this hand mixer because of the Kitchen Aid name and reputation. We have a stand mixer that is 27 years old and we have never had an issue with it. The spot weld on one of the beaters of the hand mixer broke while whipping mashed potatoes. As with all of the other user complaints, it is astonishing that beaters would break so very easily.

A beater broken by whipped cream?!?
DonnaLG
5/5/2019
Like most of the others who posted one-star reviews, my "turbo" beater broke at the top (where the blades meet the shaft.) Since I have a professional KitchenAid stand mixer, I use the hand mixer infrequently, just for whipping cream. If whipping cream breaks a beater, you've got a shoddy product, indeed. So disappointing and unworthy of the KitchenAid nam.

So I've had a hand mixer for about 2 years now after my stand mixer decided to stop working after a year. I didn't even have the hand mixer for a year and the beaters broke. My mom and grandmother always had kitchenaid stuff and they seemed to last but I'm guessing that maybe the materials that are used are too cheap to withstand baking nowadays.

We have been using Kitchen Side Stand mixers in our family for over 30 years. I was excited to upgrade to a kitchen aid hand mixer. However, it didn't take long (just 5 months) for the beaters to start coming apart at the top. To replace them would be almost the cost of replacing the whole mixer. I think they need a redesign of the beaters for the hand mixer. It is disappointing.

This review is for the beaters not the actual mixer. I always wanted a Kitchenaid mixer. They're just not in my price range. So I was pretty excited when I found the Kitchenaid hand mixer. Definitely in my budget. However only have a short time, the beater broke. I came on here to see about a replacement set, but after reading the reviews of others having the same problem even after buying the replacements, I think I'll just go buy another brand. Sad that such a superior name brand has such shortcomings with their product.

What should I do?

I have several Kitchen Aid products (Artisan Stand-up Mixer, Immersion Blender, Food Processor, 5 Speed & 9 Speed Hand Mixers, Toaster, & Dishwasher). I have also given several Kitchen Aid products as gifts. I have been very happy with everything except my Hand Mixer Beaters. The mixer/motor is fine. One of my beaters have come apart. I thought I could screw it back on and saw that it is not threaded. I was surprised to see that so many others are having the same problem! I don't know if I should buy a new set.
Has Kitchen Aid fixed this problem?
*I would not recommend this product until the issue with the beaters is resolved.
* My ratings are based on the mixer not the beaters.

I have the 6qt stand mixer and love it. But my hand mixer has had to have the wire beaters replaced multipul times. I knew I could replace parts at KitchenAid.com because I've replaced coffee maker parts in the past. Question is will the new beaters be the same or will they have improved them?? Please KitchenAid, come out with replacements that don't break. I love all of your products and can't believe you haven't fixed the beater defect. I will just have to use my old Oster mixer till I can get new beaters.

Incredibly poor quality - big disappointment
Joanne56
12/29/2018
I bought the kitchen aid hand mixer as part of a three piece set that included the mini chopper and the immersion blender. Inside of six months the wire pulled out of the beater and then another one pulled out a short time later. This mixer only does light duty work since I use my KitchenAid stand mixer for anything substantial.
Is it even worth investing in the same beaters if they're still the same poor design and quality? Super frustrating and very disappointing coming from a known and respected brand like KitchenAid. Even more disappointing that this is happening to so many people - clearly not a random issue. KitchenAid, you can do a lot better than this.

I am on my third set of beaters. I do not use them frequently, so this should not be happening on such a pricey hand mixer. I have the 9 speed hand mixer and love the power, but not the cheaply made beaters that break often. I could almost purchase a new hand mixer for what I've spent on replacement beaters.

Broken Beater...
stacy35
11/13/2018
I received my KitchenAid hand mixer a couple of years ago as a gift and I use it maybe once per week because I default to my standing KitchenAid Mixer. I usually only use the hand mixer for things like whipping cream, mashing potatoes, or making frosting. I was going to use it to whip cream tonight, and as I was pushing the beater into the mixer, the beater broke at the top and the beater completely bent! I am so disappointed in this, as I really felt like this was going to last a long time! My stand mixer has lasted 13 years and still going strong. I use it almost daily. I am not sure whether to order new beaters for it, considering that I could order a new mixer with more quality beaters off of Amazon for the same price :(. Please make your beaters more durable... then you would have a customer in me again!

I have owned model khm3wh5 for years and have had no problems. Recently my husband used it and broke one of the beaters. I bought this hand mixer thinking kitchenaid made quality products but I'm very disappointed with the turbo beater 5 speed. I expected the speed to be beyond par compared with other generic hand mixers but the speed on this mixer couldn't even make stiff peaks in my egg whites or whipping cream. I'm going to buy a generic hand mixer and return this product as it did not deliver and it has made me think twice about buying any other of their products in the future.

I have had my mixer for a few yrs. Almost immediately my one beater lost a segment - or tine. I have used it this way because i don't want to buy another set. Loved my mixer until....
Janj
11/16/2017
I loved my Kitchen Aid hand mixer until my beater fell apart two nights ago while making a cheese cake for a work dinner. It jammed my mixer and I was really afraid that it was going to burn the motor up. It did turn on after it sat for a while, but not sure what will happen if/when I get new beaters for it. I had to finsh up 1st layer and do 2nd layer by hand, which is not that big of a deal, except that is why I bought a mixer- and chose to spend a little more on the KitchenAid. I have several other KitchenAid products and have always believed you get what you pay for and that the KitchenAid brand was a no brainer quality product. However, after reading all of the reviews concerning the "bad beater" issue I am NOT happy. This has been an ongoing problem and is yet to be resolved- what is going on Kitchen Aid??

OMG! I cannot believe that so many other consumers are having the same difficulty with their hand mixer beaters as I am having. I was SO excited to finally purchase a KitchenAid mixer last year. KitchenAid is #1, right? Same problem as the others. One of my beater came apart on the top where it joins together. Now, I don't even know if I want to purchase replacement beaters if the problem is going to persist. I don't use my hand mixer all that often; I primarily use my stand mixer which is NOT a KitchenAid. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid. Thought it was a fluke but apparently Quality Control is not doing a very good job!

I bought the KHM920 mixer for myself several years ago. I love it. I use it to make mashed potatoes and small batches of cookie dough. Truly, I may use it 6 times a year. I went to use it last week and noticed that one of the wires were no longer attached to the stem. Now, 2 of the 3 are not attached. I love this mixer but I expected the beaters to last as long if not longer than the mixer itself. I use my professional stand mixer for anything more than cookie dough so it's not like I tried to mix bread dough. I guess I'll have to purchase a set of the replacement beaters.

Mixer is useless because beaters keep breaking
5/23/2017
I love KitchenAid but this mixer has me beyond frustrated. I've replaced the beaters 3 times! They keep breaking at the point where the tines intersect at the end of the beater. The kicker is, I usually only beat things like egg whites. I'm at the point where I'm going to buy a new, different brand mixer, even though the motor is just fine and I've had the mixer only about a year. Always wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer until I got this hand mixe. Will not risk another KitchenAid mixer.

I had a different brand of mixer which lasted longer than 30 years. I got a new KitchenAid hand mixer for Christmas a few years ago, which I use much less frequently. And like many other people with their reviews, apparently the beaters are quite worthless and break easily. I've just ordered replacement beaters and hope they are improved. If not, I guess I'll be tossing the whole thing and going back to the old, cheaper, worthy hand mixer.

The Beaters are Flimsy
4/9/2017
I bought this mixer a few years ago and only use it 3-4 times a year. I hand wash the beaters because they are so thin that they bend if gently squeezed and I don't think they could hold up in the dishwasher. I recently made cookie dough and the beaters came apart while mixing the cookie dough. I am very disappointed as I don't use this very often and trusted that the KitchenAid brand would provide a much better quality than this. If I can't find replacement beaters, I will have to buy a new hand mixer and it won't be a KitchenAid after this experience.

I have the KitchenAid Heavy Duty 6 hand mixer model number KHM6WH2. I need to replace both beaters because the ones that came with broke. I can't seem to find replacements for this model. Broken beater
3/13/2017
I've had a 9 speed mixer for many years that has always been fine. A friend gave me a new 5 speed mixer a couple of years ago for our vacation home, and even with the very little use it gets, one of the beaters has broken at the weld. The beaters seem much flimsier than the ones on my old mixer. I finally decided to see if I could buy a replacement set to take up there, and now I see on this site that this is a very common problem. I hope, if I buy a new set, that the defect has been corrected, because there is no way to order again if it breaks while we're up in the north woods! The ratings are about the beater, not the mixer.

Cheap and horrible beaters
3/2/2017
I bought this Kitchenaid mixer because I used to feel that Kitchenaid was a reputable brand with quality products. It appears that this is no longer the case. The beaters broke and I don't even use my mixer that often. For the amount I spent on this mixer I had higher expectations. It should not break down so quickly from light to moderate usage. Kitchenaid should be ashamed that they design and sell such a subpar and inferior product. If your goal is to turn away people from your brand, please note that you're being successful. I can not recommend your products.
