This attachment has oxidized and leaves black residue on everything! Although I always followed the instructions on cleaning - never putting it in the dishwasher, Kitchen Aid only offered me a 20% discount to purchase a new one. Thanks but no thanks. If you know this happens from all of these reviews, then fix the problem and replace for those who have spend hundreds on this mixer!

I love it and use it frequently. Did not give it a 5-star because of the wire whisk that I put in the dishwasher. The base now leaves black marks all over

I have been happy with my mixer for the most part but the whisk base is made of a material that leaves gray smudges on my hands & anything else it touches. These smudges are difficult to remove. Any suggestions about how to prevent this irritating problem?

Have this Whip, worked great until one of the wires popped out. Thought they should last much longer. :(

I have a 4.5 qt, and have the wire whisk. Mine turned black in the dishwasher, and even though I wash it by hand now, it still turns black!
I was hoping to buy a new one, but it appears that problem still exists. Not sure what to do now, but I would discourage people from using this.

I have this one that I got with my Artisan (my parents have a much older kitchen aid and their whisk does not have these issues. It was fine as long as I hand washed it, but after putting it into the dishwasher it turned black and there is a black residue that gets into baking and onto my hands. Have been looking for a replacement for ages that doesnt do this. Super disappointing.

Let me start out by saying I waited many years to get my mixer and I LOVE it. I have quite a few of the additional attachments but this one is my thorn. While it works fine it's not fun to clean as it oxidizes bad! Made the mistake of putting it in the dishwasher to get some stuck-on food off. The base turns black and comes off on everything. It's gross and just not the quality I'd expect from this brand.

If this is the same type whisk that came with my Artisan, it's useless. One of the wires popped out the first time I used it. I sent an email to kitchenaid@kitchenaid.messages1.com and never got a response. I borrowed one from a neighbor who said hers was "100 years old". There was a huge difference in weight and sturdiness. I just want something I can depend on.
